There are some weddings that are emotional. And then there are some weddings that are EMOTIONAL. That’s what happens when a wedding day arrives for a girl and her daughter and the guy that loves them more than anything in the world. And when they finally come together to declare their love in front of friends, there’s not a dry eye in sight.
Cherokee and Greg chose the beautiful StoneBridge Events in the mountains of Western Maryland which offered them a historic manor to stay in, an outdoor ceremony site on the grassy lawn by the pond, and a big white tent for the dinner and dancing that followed. It was a bright and sunny Saturday, which perfectly suited the colorful wedding vibes they had created.
While they decided not to see each other before the ceremony, Greg opted for a (joyful yet very tearful!) first look with Cherokee’s daughter. And Cherokee and Greg did meet up behind a door to exchange gifts just before the ceremony. Adding to the many sweet moments of the day, Greg not only exchanged vows with Cherokee, but also had written something special for Cherokee’s daughter, which he read to her before also giving her a ring. StoneBridge Events is nestled in a valley so there isn’t much availability for sunset portraits, but Cherokee and Greg wanted to catch a bit of golden hour so we snuck away from the reception and drove to the top of the road for a few photos. Mixing their beaming smiles and those last rays of warm light made for the most stunning images!
At one point early in the day, Greg was chatting with friends outside and they looked up surprised to see me snapping candids through one of the glass window panes. A few of them started to shift and smile and I heard Greg say (and this is definitely not verbatim) “no, we don’t have to move around guys. She does lots of casual shots and her work is so good! When Cherokee showed me some of her work, we were both sold right away!” Well, Cherokee and Greg, thank you so much for your trust in me and for being your truest, sweetest selves in front of my lens. I hope these photographs will forever take you back to your beautiful wedding day.
Cheers to the other creative vendors who joined me in creating this bright and colorful wedding celebration!
