Laughter and tears. Tight squeezes and gentle nuzzles. Expressions of pure joy and “blue steel”. This vibrant outdoor wedding in York, Pennsylvania was one for the books (and blog)! My mind buzzed as I explored the endless portrait opportunities on grounds of The Stone Mill Inn, peeked at the enchanting outdoor ceremony site nestled in the woods, and fanned her long-sleeved lace wedding gown that was as soft and flowy as a baby blanket. It was all perfection and I thought I couldn’t have asked for more–until I stumbled into the liveliness of 15 ladies celebrating their favorite bride!
Though I haven’t known Kayla for long, it’s been clear from our first meeting that this girl is as authentic as it comes–she says what she thinks, she acts how she feels, and she loves her tribe fiercely. And as a photographer, you can’t wish for anything more. Beautiful details and gorgeous light (which this day had in abundance!) are icing on the cake, but my camera will forever be drawn to the vibe of one’s soul and Kayla (and her people) let theirs shine through my lens all day! No decisions were made based on how something should be done on a wedding day; rather we witnessed moments unfold because that was how they felt. Her bridesmaids swooned over Kayla and her daughter; the groomsmen rocked their mullets, finger guns, and smiles for Andy; and everyone laughed, cheered, and cried throughout the ceremony and reception. Kayla and Andy held their daughter sweetly in every spare moment they had and then danced wildly into the night.
Kayla and Andy, thank you so much for trusting me to capture your perfect, genuine celebration of love!
