Welcome to this adventurous mountaintop wedding in Canaan Valley, West Virginia.
Whimsical. Intimate. Joyful. Stress-free. Adventure-full. Ethereal… I could go on, but I’d be writing an endless list of adjectives that don’t even do justice to this wild and wonderful West Virginia celebration!
E+J have loved the Canaan Valley area for years. It’s been the perfect getaway from the hustle of Washington DC. Thus it became the perfect location for their intimate wedding that brought family and friends together from all over the world.
In the afternoon guests road the chair lift to the top of the mountain and followed a short path through the forest. Here the mossy laden clearing was adorned with log benches, hanging lanterns, and all the forest’s natural decorations. Jaws dropped when E appeared in her ethereal veil designed as a hood and cape. In a thoughtful ceremony, E+J shared their vows. Guests laughed and cheered and a little hobbit friend gave them rings to exchange. A delightful picnic-style cocktail hour followed with family portraits at the top of the ski slopes.
After fun photos, E+J were whisked away by the chair lift for sunset portraits along the secluded edge of Dolly Sods Wilderness. (No words needed; just check out a sunset view like no other and removable sleeves that I couldn’t stop gushing over!) As the stars came out, E+J continued festivities late into the night with all their guests.
E+J, I wouldn’t have changed a thing. With a mossy forest grove and all of its whimsical details, people who celebrated you like the rock stars you are, and a sunset that screamed out magic, your celebration was perfect. And I thank you so very much for asking me to capture it all.
