Like countless other couples in 2020, Jaclyn and Gary postponed their big wedding plans due to the COVID19 pandemic. But that didn’t mean they were willing to postpone their marriage. Instead Jaclyn & Gary planned an intimate wedding in the woods of Deep Creek Lake, Maryland.
So I met up with them on a quiet and drizzly Saturday afternoon at their beautiful log cabin. Their parents, uncles, and grandmother had already arrived to celebrate with a very chill, but totally creative ceremony. Gary played guitar as Jaclyn walked down the aisle… er.. deck with her father. As his uncle officiated and they read their own vows, everyone laughed… and cried… and then laughed a little bit more. Afterwards we walked in the woods and captured a few fun portraits along the private road where they had spent so much time walking during Maryland’s strict Stay-At-Home period. Gary played his piano for Jaclyn and then they danced to a song from his iPhone. Finally they toasted with their families around the dinner table (which was decorated beautifully by both Jaclyn and a local florist team, Farmhouse Fete). Jaclyn’s heels were off before I left and everyone was diving into a delicious meal prepared by Savage River Lodge.
What a privilege to witness such a sweet, intimate wedding in the woods during during such a stressful year. It may not have been the wedding they originally planned, but I swear it couldn’t have been more perfect! Jaclyn and Gary, your big celebration awaits–and until then, happy first year of marriage!
Though it was mostly a DIY affair, there are still a few vendors to thank!
