It’s that wonderful time for wedding photographers (at least for us on the US East Coast) when our shooting slows down and we get to reflect on all of the work we created throughout the year. 2019 filled my work with amazing couples, incredible weddings, and lots of photographs! As I looked through all the images, I realized it would be nearly impossible to create just one blog post that could encompass all my favourites–so I’m going to do 3! First up: engagement sessions.
Most of my wedding packages include engagement sessions because they are so valuable to the couple and to myself. We can get really creative because we have the time to explore cool areas, be silly, get dirty, and have fun without the time constraints found in a wedding day. But having this laid-back time to hang out in a place that is special to the couple means that we get to know each other as people. I get to see them within their relationship and they get a feel for being in front of my camera. These are the little elements that help us gain the trust we need to photograph their wedding day.
But back to the part about creating fun and unique images! Here are some of my favorites from 2019. Whether it’s a strong sense of emotion, a stunning landscape, or a creative composition, each photograph keeps my eyes lingering and simply enjoying the image. To my 2019 couples, thank you. I think we really made some good stuff here.
